Heliconia psittacorum is of high ornamental values.

• It’s an erect evergreen perennial that forms a dense tuft of lanceolate and treasured with bright green leaves which all conclusively are adorned with pointed tips. These plants also bear a cluster of flowers that are distinctive with ranges of colours, from red, yellow, orange, and green. Heliconia psittacorum also consist of waxy bracts that are arranged alternatively on the stem and generally enclosed to protect its small flowers. There is no particular blooming season for these flowers, they mostly produce such inflorescences all year round. Followed by these flowers, Heliconia psittacorum also bears fleshy, dark blue rounded fruits. They look amazing in outdoor patios or in containers and are the main reason to attract hummingbirds to your decorative outdoor spaces.

• Heliconia psittacorum performs well in the presence of full sunlight. One should make sure to let their soil completely dry out up to top 5 cm before watering again. The soil on which the plants are supposed to be grown must be of free drain and rich with organic matter. These plants require a hot atmosphere. In terms of feeding, use granular fertilizers for general growth. And feed them at least 3 times a year.
