- Mistletoe fig (Scientifically known as Ficus Deltoidea) is an evergreen shrub that has a certain distinct characteristic with appearance. Like they have a waxy green foliage of DELTOID shape with yellowish undersides that has several black glands in between the leaf veins. This species of fig tree got upright growth and spread nature. They also bear yellowish figs year-round (but non edible). The Mistletoe fig (Ficus Deltoidea) tree, along with its nature such as strong tolerance towards low growth conditions, like lightning, soil dryness, temperature and diseases, and with attractive tiny nodules of figs and foliage, they are perfect for ornamental purposes.
It got traditional medicinal values.
- Apart from their visual resonance, Mistletoe fig (Ficus Deltoidea) has been used as an herbal plant around Malaysian and Borneo peninsula. Their fruits, stems, roots and leaves have been known for having healing properties. They have been traditionally used to deal with postpartum depression, menstrual cycle regulation, diabetes, lung diseases and skin problems. This herbal plant has also been used as aphrodisiac for both women and men. - Mistletoe fig (Ficus Deltoidea) are very tolerant toward low growing conditions such as low light conditions, temperature up to (-1.1) degree Celsius (for short periods), heavy pruning and even few disease or pest problems. They mostly prefer full to partial sunlight. Water them moderately especially during summer, and less during winter and rainy. The soil on which they are supposed to be planted must be well-drained, rich and fertile. Keep a note that temperature must be above 16 degree Celsius and growth thrives above 21 degree Celsius. And in terms of feeding, In the beginning of the growing season, feed them with slow-release pellets. Fertilize once a month in the spring and summer & once every 2 months in the fall and winter.
