- Plumbago Auriculata Aka Cape Leadwort is an evergreen vine to mounding shrub, native to South Africa. These vines are responsible for boasting an attractive sky-blue, trumpet-shaped five-lobed flower. These Blossoms freely appear from spring onwards throughout Summer. It must be frost free. Their leaves are of light green colour and spoon-shaped. A shrub-like mass is brought by its appearance in abundance, as all flowers arching branches fall gracefully on each other. Conclusively Plumbago Auriculata have a strong ornamental value and are easy to care for, and in general state these plants grow up to 180 – 300cm tall and 240 -300cm wide. Plumbago Auriculata could be trained as a vine on trellis or as ground cover. These blue flowers will be worthwhile to be flaunted as on borders or preparing Mediterranean gardens.

- Decoction of their roots could be used to treat black water fever, wounds, internal injuries and the infusion prepared by it could be used to induce vomiting. And powder made by their root paste is beneficial in treating warts, severe headache and bone related problems. These root powder could also be used to reduce inflammation. Paste of their roots and leaves could be used to treat fresh injuries and to stop wound bleeding.
Plumbago Auriculata are easy to care for.
- These evergreen vines could survive when kept in presence of full sunlight or partial shade. Water them enough to keep their soil moist especially during its young stage. Once they get mature, they become drought tolerant. The soil on which these plants are supposed to be planted must be well-drained and rich with organic contents. To sight their healthy growth, one must note that these plants are relevant for places where temperature must not go below 15.55 degree Celsius and they prefer mostly warmer climates. And in terms of feeding, use any organic fertilizers.
